Principal's Corner
Each day I am lucky enough to be able to read for a few minutes with a group of students in my office here at Sand Ridge. Not long ago, we finished reading a book called, “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom. In this book, the main character (Eddie) is angry when he finds out (after his own death) that his life had been altered because of a sacrifice he unknowingly made while alive. His friend helps Eddie to understand more completely the meaning of sacrifice by explaining that, “Sacrifice is a part of life. You made one and I made one. It’s supposed to be a good thing. It is not something to regret or to be angry about. It’s something to aspire to!”
Each day, I am amazed at the sacrifices that you as parents make for your children and how this inspires your students to make sacrifices to accomplish incredible things here at Sand Ridge. I am proud of the academic and extracurricular achievements here at Sand Ridge this year. We have increased our pass rates by nearly 20 percent and decreased our negative behaviors by nearly 30 percent. This is a remarkable accomplishment and it reflects a team effort by you as parents, your children, and us here as a school. I thank you all for your interest in your child’s education and in helping to encourage them to keep going.
We encourage the students to continue to do their best, to use the resources available to them here at school (tutoring, advisory, etc.), and to continue to set goals and to work to achieve them. I know that the sacrifices by you and your student(s) will be rewarded as they continue to work to achieve great things here at Sand Ridge. Great job Scorpions and thank you for a fantastic 3rd quarter. Go Scorpion Nation!
